Hillary Clinton outperformed President Obama’s share of the Jewish vote in Tuesday’s presidential election, winning the support of 70 percent of Jewish voters, according to a national exit poll released on Wednesday.
According to the poll, conducted by Jim Gerstein from GBA Strategies and sponsored by J Street, 70 percent of Jewish voters across the nation voted for Clinton, while 25 percent voted for President-elect Donald Trump.
The exit poll indicated that almost half of Trump’s voters cast their vote against Clinton, while as many as 68 percent of Clinton’s supporters voted for her rather than against her opponent.
A similar poll conducted for the NY Times as polls closed showed the Jewish vote going for Clinton 71 to 24 percent.
In Florida, the J Street poll showed, Jewish voters chose Clinton by a 40 point margin (68 to 28 percent), which is comparable to President Obama’s 68 to 31 percent margin in 2012.
