The new Family Amphitheater Performances at the Skirball Cultural Center’s beautiful outdoor amphitheater provide opportunities for families to sing, dance, hear stories and interact with live animals every weekend this summer. The kid-friendly entertainment, free with museum admission, includes a community drum circle, salsa dancing and songs celebrating science and nature. The Stefani Valadez Ensemble joins a host of other international musicians for a night at the Los Angeles Zoo. World Music Night, part of the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association’s Music in the Zoo concert series, will feature the sounds of Zimbabwe, the Middle East, Ireland and Latin culture along with an eclectic array of food offerings for this after-hours performance under the stars. On July 24, the series continues with Classic Rock Night, featuring cover bands performing music from the Eagles, The Beatles, the Grateful Dead and others. Both evenings will also offer 10 interactive animal education stations throughout the zoo and a later bedtime for the animals (8 p.m.).
