In the immediate aftermath of Hamas’s October 7th attack on Israel, I and many others have written that this is Israel’s 9-11. But even this comparison of the magnitude of the Iran-led and supported Hamas surprise attack on Israel sadly falls short—very short.
On 9-11, America horrifically lost nearly 3000 souls to a surprise attack by an Islamist Supremacist enemy that targeted innocent American civilians from their Islamist Supremacist stronghold over 7000 miles from America.
On October 7, 2023, on one of the most joyful holidays of the Jewish calendar, Simchat Torah, the gay-murdering, misogynist, virulent antisemitic Islamist Supremacist terrorist group that sits on Israel’s border and controls Gaza—in the same way that the gay-murdering, misogynist, virulent antisemitic Taliban and Al Qaeda controlled Afghanistan before 9-11—launched, with direct assistance from their gay-murdering, misogynist, virulent antisemitic sponsors in Iran, an attack on Israel that murdered over 1000 Israelis. They also kidnapped over 100 Israelis, including dozens of babies, toddlers, women, children and entire families.
To put this into an American perspective, this would be the equivalent of approximately 28,000 Americans being murdered and over 3,300 Americans being kidnapped and held hostage by Islamist Supremacist terrorists (who have vowed for decades to destroy America, and who follow an ideology whose foundational belief is that Americans are an inferior, inherently deviant people who have no right to any sovereignty or self-determination whatsoever).
When it comes to the Jewish people, this is and has always been the ideological underpinning of the Hamas leadership and their predecessors in the Muslim Brotherhood (which also birthed Al Qaeda).
It is also the ideological underpinning of the Islamist Nazi collaborators among the original Palestinian Arab leadership, who effectively started this conflict by twice rejecting, before 1948, the creation of the first ever independent Arab country west of the Jordan River. To them, destroying Jewish sovereignty anywhere in the Jewish people’s indigenous homeland was always more important than creating the first independent Arab state in the western Levant.
This perverse and plainly Islamist Supremacist order of priorities since at least 1937 has always dominated the Palestinian Arab leadership—including that of the supposedly “moderate” Palestinian Authority leadership—and has led exclusively to the perpetuation of this conflict since 1937, and the rejection of over eight peace offers since 1947 that would have created a first ever independent Arab state in the historical land of Israel—the land west of the Jordan River.
In 2014, during the third Gaza war following Hamas’s takeover of Gaza, I wrote an article for The Times of Israel about the pro-Palestinian rallies throughout Europe where chants of “Hamas Hamas Jews to the gas” were repeatedly heard. I asked then “where is the outrage?”
Further, when was the world going to understand the genocidal, racist, evil, supremacist Nazi-like ideology of Israel’s enemies and their supporters?
Further, when was the world going to understand the genocidal, racist, evil, supremacist Nazi-like ideology of Israel’s enemies and their supporters?
Even now—immediately following news of the most heinous massacre of Jews since the Holocaust—after Hamas terrorists literally gunned down in cold blood hundreds of Jewish civilians, including 260 unarmed young adults and teenagers who were attending a “peace” music festival, we have seen dozens upon dozens of “pro-Palestinian” rallies with people screaming adulatory admiration and joy in the face of Hamas’s mass-murders, war crimes and unspeakable inhumanity.
As for those who argue that this barbarity of mass-murdering, raping and mutilating Jews is the product of “oppression” or has anything to do with the current circumstances of the Palestinian Arabs, please open a history book. Please take the time to read about the massacres, mutilation and rapes of helpless unarmed Jews in Tzaft in 1834, in Jerusalem in 1920, in Jaffa in 1921, in Hebron in 1929 and in Baghdad in 1941(among many other massacres of Jews throughout the MENA for centuries before 1948) all incited, undergirded and perpetrated by the ideological predecessors in Arab and Islamist Supremacism to Hamas, Al Qaeda and ISIS.
This is the face of Israel’s enemies. This has always been the face of Israel’s enemies—even before we regained our sovereignty in part of our indigenous land.
This is the face of Hamas.
This is the face of the entire leadership of the Palestinian Arab “resistance” (to the existence of any Jewish sovereignty in the land of Israel) since well before they even identified collectively as “Palestinian.”
It is this face and this reality that we Israelis (and the entire freedom and democracy embracing nations of the world) should have recognized long before over 1000 Israelis were brutally mass-murdered and over 100 Israelis were kidnapped and taken hostage.
We Israelis should have never tolerated an ISIS/Taliban/Al Qaeda-like terror state that is a proxy of Iran on our border. Now we definitely can’t.
Nikki Haley’s message this past Sunday to Bibi Netanyahu about Hamas must be heeded: FINISH THEM!
And when much of the western world starts forgetting about the heinous ISIS and Nazi-like atrocities that led to this war, as they inevitably will as the casualties in Gaza mount, the Israeli government must maintain the resolve to finish Hamas—to liberate both Israelis and ordinary Gazans from Hamas.
Just as America would never tolerate the existence of an Al Qaeda controlled state on America’s border after Al Qaeda murdered over 28,000 Americans, Israel can no longer tolerate a Hamas controlled terror state on its border.
