Videos circulated on social media showed Iranian students at Shaheed Beheshti University on Sunday deliberately avoiding walking over the Stars and Stripes and the Star of David before furiously berating those that do.

Hundreds of protesters called on the country’s top officials to resign after Tehran admitted having accidentally downed a Ukrainian jet with 176 people – many of them students – early on Wednesday.

You are responsible for this, you are lying to us that the enemy is America, but the enemy is right here,” they were heard chanting in the video.

Ali Khamenei’s regime is said to have painted the flags at the main entrance of the university for students to walk over as a sign of disrespect.

Hillel Neuer, the executive director of NGO UN Watch, tweeted in response “these courageous Iranian students who refuse to trample the U.S. & Israeli flags represent the hope for a better Middle East.”

The Jerusalem Post contributed to this report.
