Dear all,
I spent much of today in my office. I was on the phone. I was prepping for the Holy Days. I was having meetings. There was much to do…
But my tush was getting tired. And so was my brain.
So I got up and took a five minute walk. In that time, I bumped into members of the congregation, I saw a beautiful flower, and I watched planes in their landing pattern at LAX.
Those five minutes enabled me to go back and have more meaningful phone conversations, think more deeply about the Holy Days, and hold more productive meetings. Just as we take one day in seven (Shabbat) to embrace holiness, we may also take one hour in seven, one minute in seven – and one moment in time.
A change of scenery adds needed perspective to our lives on those very busy days. (And wearing fun socks adds whimsy!)
