The unlikely worlds of “General Hospital” and “24” converge tonight, with the opening of 68 Cent Crew Theatre Company’s production of the Martin Sherman play “Bent.” Actors Tyler Christopher (of the aforementioned soap) and Jamison Jones (of the aforementioned terrorism TV drama) play Max and Horst in this Holocaust piece about two homosexuals held prisoner in a concentration camp, who fall in love despite never being able to touch one another.

Monday the 22nd
If you haven’t yet seen the new genocide documentary, “Screamers,” or even if you have, tonight’s an opportunity to view the film, as well as hear from those involved in its making. Focusing on modern day genocides from Armenia to Darfur, it screens tonight at Valley Beth Shalom. Rabbi Ed Feinstein leads a post-film discussion with Armenian community leaders and rock band System of a Down, who produced and lent their music to the film.

Wednesday the 24th
Artist Sharon Ben-Tal lays it on thick in her new exhibition at Bandini Art. Layering color wash upon color wash — infused with graphite, mica and a range of pure pigments, and sanded — Ben-Tal plays with depth, light and luster in her backgrounds, juxtaposed by relief line drawings in the foreground. The results challenge the viewer to make peace of the contradiction. Her paintings are on view through Feb. 24.

<p>A new-to-you Gershwin treat premieres in Los Angeles this week. The 1925 Gershwin Brothers musical “Tip-Toes,” was a hit in its day, but was never produced again on Broadway. In 1982, its discarded orchestrations were rediscovered in a warehouse and fully restored for a Carnegie Hall concert in 1998. Today, we finally get a full staging at the Whitefire Theatre, with tunes like “Sweet and Low-Down,” “That Certain Feeling” and “Looking for a Boy.”</p>

Donned your mukluks and jetted to Sundance this week? Lucky you. In between all the schmoozing, make sure to check out four films of Jewish relevance. There’s “The Ten,” a film divided into 10 stories inspired by the Ten Commandments, and “Chicago 10,” a stylized portrait of the infamous protests at the 1968 Democratic Convention and the trial that followed. And from Israel, two more films to consider: The documentary, “Hot House,” which explores the growth of Palestinian nationalism behind the bars of Israeli prisons, and the Israeli film, “Sweet Mud,” an emotional coming-of-age story about a boy living on a kibbutz in 1974.</p>

Arthur Miller productions come and go, but Odyssey Theatre’s “Death of a Salesman” returns today thanks to a previous sold-out run in 2002 that also garnered an L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award for actor Eddie Jones’s portrayal of Willie Loman. The classic drama that explores the American Dream runs through Feb. 18.</p>
