Following the success of its Sukkot weekend getaways, AJU Brandeis-Bardin is inviting families in the area to join them for COVID-friendly retreats for Thanksgiving and Hanukkah.
The team at the 2,800-acre campus located in Simi Valley will provide kosher meals, nature and solitude. All you need to do is bring your family and friends.
Following the guidelines provided by California state agencies, the Brandeis-Bardin Campus will offer a limited number of visitors, rooms and private outdoor and indoor dining options. To maintain social distancing precautions, the campus is limiting the number of guests allowed on campus at any given time. Everyone on campus must wear a face covering at all times.
Navah Becker, director of programming at AJU’s Brandeis-Bardin Campus told the Journal they received so much positive feedback about the getaway programs including inquiries on when more holiday getaways would be added.
“We’ve added getaways for Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and New Year’s, with more getaways to come in the winter and spring. We’re truly excited for the months ahead,” Becker said. “Our two Sukkot getaways showed that people are craving connection with other people. Since the pandemic began, we have been looking for new ways to foster and nurture connection.”

Families can choose a four-day/three-night stay from Nov. 26-29 or a three-day/two-night stay from Nov. 27-29. Hanukkah retreat dates are slated for Dec. 11-Dec. 13.
Upon registration, families will receive a form to fill out so they can select a variety of actives for the weekend. Activities include archery, tomahawks, rock climbing, hiking, horseback riding, arts and crafts and challah baking to name a few. According to AJU’s website, most activities will be scheduled and operated for individual families with some operated for two to three families at a time. Common areas and frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned and sanitized multiple times each day.
