[additional-authors]
January 16, 2015

Our guest this week is Rabbi Adam Kligfeld, Senior Rabbi of L.A.’s Temple Beth Am. Rabbi Kligfeld is a 1995 graduate of Columbia College, magna cum laude, with a degree in psychology and Jewish history. He was ordained as a rabbi in 2000 by the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, with a focus on Talmud. Before arriving at Temple Beth Am, Rabbi Kilgfeld served  for 9 years at Congregation Eitz Chaim in Monroe, NY. In 2006, he was selected to serve on the Committee on Jewish Law and Standards of the Conservative Movement. He is an active member of the Board of Rabbis of Southern California.

The week's Torah portion – Parashat Va'era (Exodus 6:2-9:35) – features Moses and Aaron's appearance before Pharaoh, their showdown with Pharaoh's sorcerers, and the first seven plagues of Egypt. Our discussion focuses on the theological, emotional, and relational implications of God’s role in the hardening of Pharaoh’s heart.

If you would like to learn some more about the Parasha, take a look at our conversation with Rabbi Daniel Brenner.
