Samara Hutman is Executive Director of Remember Us: The Holocaust Bnai Mitzvah and Righteous Conversations Projects. Her work in Holocaust remembrance and education began when her daughter Rebecca participated in the Remember Us Bnai Mitzvah Project, honoring the memory of Victoria Farhi, z”l, a young girl from Paris who was killed in Auschwitz at the age of 13. This experience led to Samara’s leadership role as the Executive Director of Remember Us, which eventually led to the creation of the Righteous Conversations Project, a collaborative venture of educators, scholars, artists and filmmakers working with teens and Survivors.  In the last seven years, Samara has pioneered projects, partnerships and programs that have influenced and shaped the landscape of Holocaust Remembrance and Education in Los Angeles and in communities national and international.  These programs have all grown from the core understanding that all work during this precious time in Holocaust History must emanate from dialogue with Survivors and conversations with teens, artists, community leaders and educators, inspired to hear and retell the narratives shared by Survivors.
