Statement by Maciej Golubiewski of Poland and Rabbi Shmuley Boteach

“Last week we co-authored a column on the 80th anniversary of the start of the Second World War that spoke of the need of our two peoples to come together to fight anti-Semitism after the horrors visited upon the Jewish people in the wake of the German invasion of Poland and the brutalization of the Polish people. Now comes the news that foreigners on Polish soil viciously attacked a group of Israeli students in Warsaw. We condemn this anti-Semitic attack in the strongest terms and stand with the victims. Poland plays host every year to large numbers of Jewish visitors and has a small but thriving Jewish community. We stand jointly committed to ensuring that all Jews are safe and welcome in Poland and the perpetrators of this attack will be punished to the fullest extent of the law.”

Maciej Golubiewski, Consul General of Poland in New York
Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, “America’s Rabbi”
