Santa Barbara fire threatens multimillion-dollar homes, historic mission

It was only six weeks ago that fires ravaged greater Los Angeles, taking with it chunks of Westmont College in Montecito and turning to rubble a monastery above Santa Barbara.

A new fire is burning in the heart of Santa Barbara. It’s already consumed some homes and is barreling toward downtown and the city’s famous nightlife and Franciscan mission.
