On Monday, I mentioned that some of the response to my op-ed in The Christian Science Monitor had been less than flattering. In particular, I noted the series of ugly e-mails I had received from a man in Israel, apparently Christian, named David. He thought I was being bribed to say nice things about Jews.
The emails have continued coming. Shortly after I wrote about David’s messages, he sent another that included this closing thought:
I am not accusing you of a Judas-type wholesale betrayal of Christianity, but from my viewpoint, I don’t believe you are helping Christianity any either.
I believe you are misleading good Christians in their faith. —Hence, you are indeed a Herodian.
As I mentioned Monday, I already knew I was dealing with someone who couldn’t be reasoned with. So I didn’t respond. End of story. Until last night:
Brad,
I never saw a rebuttal from you to my last naming of you as a man taking bribes. Oft hand, I am still unswayed by your argument that you are a Christian. I just don’t believe the evidence.
I didn’t realize I was on trial.
