A group of men dressed in Nazi uniforms were harassing guests at the Beverly Hilton hotel and then proceeded to drive through the streets of Beverly Hills shouting antisemitic rhetoric on May 21.

Video footage posted by Stop Antisemitism showed the men shouting the “Nazis are coming!” at the hotel guests; per Stop Antisemitism, police were called and escorted the men away from the hotel, although they were not given a citation. Also posted by Stop Antisemitism was other video footage showing what appears to be the same men driving around Beverly Hills and shouting into a loudspeaker, “How many baby penises have you sucked today? You got six million?” “Come on Jewboy,” and “My name’s Gary and I’m from the Synagogue of Satan.” Stop Antisemitism also noted in a tweet that the truck they were driving around had “Great Replacement” graffiti on it, “the same rhetoric the Buffalo shooter espoused in his manifesto before murdering 10 people.” According to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), the alleged shooter believed in “Great Replacement Theory” that whites would be replaced by immigrants of colors and that Jews are behind such efforts.

Stop Antisemitism alleged that the men behind these actions were the Goyim Defense League, which has been described by the (ADL) as a group that “espouses vitriolic antisemitism and white supremacist themes via the internet, through propaganda distributions and in street actions.”

Beverly Hills Mayor Lili Bosse tweeted, “A Disgusting antisemitic truck spewing vulgar Jew hatred drove through our streets today. An example of inhumanity. As a daughter of an Auschwitz survivor, I will always stand up, speak out and fight this hatred.”

ADL Southern California tweeted a reply to Bosse stating that they “stand in solidarity with mayor @LiliBosse1 and thank @BeverlyHillsPD for the clarity that this disgusting display of antisemitism has no place in Beverly Hills or anywhere else.”

ADL Los Angeles Regional Director Jeffrey I. Abrams said in a statement to the Journal, “Given the exponential increase of antisemitism in our communities, as displayed through ADL’s 2021 Annual Audit of Antisemitic Incidentsthese outrageous attacks by despicable antisemitic propagandists cannot be allowed to go unanswered. We stand in solidarity with Beverly Hills Mayor Lili Bosse in her condemnation of such horrendous activities and thank Beverly Hills Police Department for the clarity that this disgusting display of antisemitism has no place in Beverly Hills or anywhere else.”

Other Jewish groups also condemned the antisemitic harassment that occurred in Beverly Hills.

“Cruising around Beverly Hills this weekend in a caravan of hate and spewing white-supremacist conspiracy theories about Jews, African Americans, and other minority groups, the so-called ‘Goyim Defense League’ and its band of sociopaths left the stench of bigotry on Beverly Hills and surrounding areas, including the Beverly Hilton,” American Jewish Committee (AJC) Los Angeles Regional Director Richard S. Hirschhaut said in a statement to the Journal. “Coming on the heels of the twin gut punch of the horrific hate-fueled shooting spree in Buffalo and senseless violence in Laguna Woods, the brazen antisemitism of these goons is the last thing our community needs. These same racists have littered countless communities across the U.S. with flyers spouting an anti-vaxxer message and blaming Jews for the pandemic. We have spoken with leadership of the Beverly Hills Police Department and offered AJC’s assistance as Beverly Hills, the first community in the nation to adopt the [International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance] Working Definition of Antisemitism, seeks to address this latest affront. Together, we will stand resolute against antisemitism and hate.”

StandWithUs CEO and Co-Founder Roz Rothstein, the daughter of Holocaust survivors also said in a statement to the Journal, “Dressing up like Nazis, glorifying one of the darkest periods of human history, and verbally harassing innocent patrons of a local business is shameful and twisted. These extremists are also promoting a dangerous conspiracy theory that just inspired a horrific white supremacist terrorist attack in Buffalo. Law enforcement officials should do everything within their power to prevent this kind of harassment and we must all come together to fight this vicious hate.”

Stop Antisemitism Executive Director Liora Rez said in a statement to the Journal, “Had this harassment campaign been directed towards any other minority, these white nationalists would be spending the night in jail and facing charges. But because Jews are their targets, the legal system gives them a ‘free speech pass.’ Is it going to take someone getting killed before they’re finally stopped?”
