Our guest is Davey Rosen, a rabbinic student at AJR.
Our parsha is Vayera and it begins with God revealing Himself to Abraham three days after his circumcision; Abraham rushes off to prepare a meal for three guests – angles – who appear in the desert heat. They announce that the barren Sarah will give birth to a son. The parsha ends with God testing Abraham’s devotion by commanding him to sacrifice this son, Isaac. A voice from heaven stopes him from doing this at the very last minute.
