In past decades, sanctions against Iran have constituted the entirety of the U.S.-led strategy against Tehran’s nuclear ambitions. Today, in contrast, the U.S. approach involves not only sanctions but also diplomatic talks, and at least some threat of military force.
Fearsome Iran Sanctions Just a Ruse
Writing in Commentary Magazine, Jonathan S. Tobin notes that officials and analysts from across the political spectrum are saying out that the Obama administration’s sanctions on Iran are merely lip service.
That these supposedly crippling sanctions on Iran are toothless is something that writers on both the left and the right are coming to realize. It’s just the administration and their cheerleaders who are still pretending as if they present a real threat to either the Iranian regime or its ability to keep investing in its nuclear program.
