A sobering and frightening documentary about the alarming rise in ant-Semitism in the United States and internationally, the documentary “Hate Among Us” explores the history and sociology of Jewish persecution from the past to its present forms: white nationalists on the far right and Muslim extremists, and Palestinian BDS (boycott, divestment and sanctions) supporters on the far left.
The film depicts hate rallies, the attacks at the Tree of Life and Poway synagogues, and other chilling examples mixed with testimonies from Holocaust survivors, experts, historians and relatives of terror victims to underscore its message that history is repeating itself.
Producers Montel Williams and Dean Cain, who made “Architects of Denial” about the Armenian geocide in 2017” and producer-director David McKenzie—none of whom are Jewish—felt compelled to make the film. “Anytime hate crime happens to anyone,” Williams says on camera, with Cain adding, “It happens to all of us.”
“Hate Among Us” will screen Dec. 22-26 at the Arena Cinelounge in Hollywood.
