Jewish actors Judd Hirsch, Ben Schnetzer, John Magaro, and Lola Kirke have been cast in the FX drama pilot “Gone Hollywood,” about talent agents who defect from their old-guard firm to form a new agency. The series will mix its fictional characters with real-life entertainment figures and events. Set in 1980, it echoes the seismic formation of CAA (Creative Artists Agency) by five William Morris Agency upstarts in 1975.
Judging from the names, several of the characters are Jewish as well. Hirsch (“The Meyerowitz Stories,” “The Goldbergs,” “Taxi,” “NUMB3RS,” “Ordinary People,” “A Beautiful Mind”) plays Lev Kertzman; Magaro (“The Big Short,” “The Umbrella Academy”) plays Eli Zeller; and Jonathan Pryce, a non-Jew who played the Jewish husband in “The Wife,” portrays Benny Landau. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (“Game of Thrones”) also stars.
Executive producers include Scott Rudin, Eli Bush, Garrett Basch, Marney Hochman, Shawn Ryan and Ted Grfiffin, who serves as showrunner.
