As a young thirty something living in LA, I am always looking for something to do that inspires me. Something that’s interesting, where I can learn, and keeps me connected to my Judaism.

In the LA Jewish Community we often complain that it’s always the same old people, same old parties, same old events, and same old causes. Not that the causes aren’t good or worthwhile, but I would love to go to an event where I am not hearing the same old speaker and eating the same old chicken with the same stuffy people.

That’s why we came up with a Big Jewish Tent event called Spavuout, A Mind, Body, Torah Retreat—to prove that different works.

Spavuout—a play on the Jewish holiday Shavuot—will offer massage, Yoga, wine tastings, running and weight training clinics, rock climbing text studies, gardening, journaling, storytelling, music, self-improvement, and more.

It will be held at the Shalom Institute in the gorgeous Malibu mountains.  I’m urging you to come spend a day learning, stretching, and ok, yes…a little drinking! I look forward to seeing you, trying different experiences and engaging with the people I love most.
