NYT Mag gets intimate with girls of the FLDS

[additional-authors]
July 27, 2008

Some of the 400 children removed this spring from the Texas compound of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—which included 31 girls ages 14 to 17 who were pregnant or previously had been—make an appearance on the cover of this week’s New York Times Magazine. Inside are two photo galleries of the girls and life inside the Yearning for Zion ranch and this story about the “Children of God.”

“We may never know much,” Sara Corbett writes, “about the individual circumstances of the young women in these pages or, most important, whether the relationships that carried some of them into motherhood were forced upon them.”
