“Fleishman is in Trouble” written by Taffy Brodesser-Akner will now become a limited TV series on FX.

“Fleishman Is in Trouble,” the best-selling novel about a father whose wife suddenly leaves him and their kids, will become an FX limited series. Author Taffy Brodesser-Akner is adapting her novel and will executive produce with Sarah Timberman, Tracy Underwood and Carl Beverly for ABC Signature Studios.

“I can’t believe how lucky I am to get to work with these producers and with this studio. I wrote a novel thinking it was just a little story that I had to get out into the world, and never allowed myself to think that the story would continue on like this,” Akner told Deadline on Sept. 12, noting that the story was inspired by several friends’ divorce experiences.

Her second novel, a family story about wealth, class and inheritance called “Long Island Compromise,” has been sold to Random House.
