Every year Jews gather around Seder tables to tell a defining origin story of our people – our deliverance from bondage and oppression at the hands of the Egyptians. Contained in this story is the source of Jewish ethics, reflections on history and dreams for the future. But the Seder is not simply a night for storytelling. Each year we are prompted to re-experience the liberation from Egypt: to re-taste the bitterness of bondage, to renew our commitment to seek justice in the face of oppression, and to recruit fellow humans who remain bound in the grips of slavery and oppression to join in our march towards freedom.
