Makom Ohr Shalom Moves to New Home
Makom Ohr Shalom moved to a new home in the St. Mary’s complex at 5955 Lindley Ave., Tarzana. With St. Mary’s large, newly renovated facilities, the synagogue will be able to hold its alternating rabbi-led and cantor-led Friday night services at the new location, on every Sabbath of the month, as well as all holiday celebrations, including Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services. The new and growing children’s religious school will also be held at this location every Sunday morning. Women and Men in Black Vigil
To commemorate International Women’s Day, in solidarity
with Israeli and Palestinian women struggling for a just peace, Women and Men in
Black are holding a candlelight vigil on Friday, March 8, from 6-8 p.m. “We
stand as partners with Israeli and Palestinian women in their demand to end
violence against Pakistan and Israeli civilians,” the group wrote in a
statement. “We believe that there is no military solution, and call for both
sides to return to the negotiating table.” Candles and black clothing are
