Dear all,
Imagine, just imagine if we got a prescription to just breathe.
In addition to taking a medication with our meal or before bedtime, imagine if our daily dose included walking outside and taking real, deep, life-affirming breaths.
What would that feel like in the rain or snow?
How would that refresh us after a difficult day?
Where would that transport our souls?
The Psalmist teaches, “Kol hanishama t’haleil Ya/ Let every soul/ breath become a praise to God!” (Psalm 150).
That breath has the power to transform us, to connect us with the divine, and to ground us with an embracing moment in time.
(If only that breath had the ability to cure my “doctor’s penmanship”!)
With love and Shalom,
Rabbi Zach Shapiro
