Israeli celebrities supporting civil marriage
As you all probably know, marriage in Israel is legally recognized only when it is being performed by a Jewish rabbi. In recent years, though, more and more Israelis express their wish for a legal recognition in a non-religious marriage, or “civil” marriage. This week, finance Minister Yair Lapid's party Yesh Atid released a video supporting their civil marriage bill. The viral video features more than 20 notable Israeli celebrities, including international supermodel Bar Refaeli, asking them the question: “Why do you support the civil marriage bill?”
Winter Bird Festival
Last week, the Winter Bird Festival in the Galilee, Golan and valleys of northern Israel, opened with a gala evening at the Dubrovin Estate in the Hula Valley. The gala included an exhibition of rare photographs from the KKL-JNF photo archive and a concert performed by the Israel Chamber Orchestra. Over the next month, there will be tours and excursions in Hula Lake Park and in other major bird watching sites, as well as the Crane Race around the Hula Lake. Come visit!

The IDF goes green!
The Israeli Defense Forces are going “green” and contributing to the environmental revolution that has swept up the world. According to Lt.-Col. Eyal Ezra, head of the IDF’s technology and logistics department, the IDF intends to significantly slash its energy use, increase recycling and incorporate renewable infrastructure in its bases during the coming years.
Israel-India friendship tightens
Did you know Israel and India are running a close relationship? The ties between Israel and India are growing stronger each year. India is buying Israeli companies and establishing more joint ventures between the nations. This week, at the sixth India-Israel forum, sponsored by the Aspen Institute of India and Tel Aviv University, business people from both countries discussed future cooperation.
