Boycott spurs Tnuva to drop cottage cheese prices

Tnuva, Israel\’s largest dairy products manufacturer, agreed to lower cottage cheese prices by about 20 percent following a nationwide boycott. The company announced Wednesday that it would lower the recommended price of a 9-ounce tub of cottage cheese by about from $2.17 to $1.70.

Cottage cheese becomes call for rebellion in Israel

“Cottage cheese, a basic good whose price has reached nearly eight shekels. Don’t buy it this month!” As a revolutionary slogan, it’s unlikely to live in the annals of history alongside “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity” or “Workers of the World Unite.” But in Israel it has inspired a grassroots rebellion that spread within days from a Facebook page to the Knesset, where Prime Minster Binyamin Netanyahu had a container placed in front of him in protest over prices.

Israelis preparing cottage cheese boycott

More than 32,000 Israelis have said they will boycott cottage cheese next month over its soaring cost. The Israelis joined a Facebook group calling for a consumer boycott of cottage cheese, which accounts for some 28 percent of all cheese sales in Israel, throughout July.
