Hillel International announced on May 16 that President and CEO Eric D. Fingerhut will be stepping down at the end of June to assume the position of President and CEO for the Jewish Federations of North America. Adam Lehman, Hillel’s current chief operating officer will become interim CEO, and Hillel will immediately launch a national search to fill the position.

“We are proud of Eric’s accomplishments and believe his appointment to lead JFNA is a testament to his success over the last five years at Hillel,” Tina Price, chair of the Hillel international board of directors, said in a statement to the Journal. “During his time with Hillel, Eric guided us through an ambitious strategic plan, focused on building the best talent in the Jewish world, and measuring our engagement to ensure excellence on every campus. We are excited to continue partnering with him in his new role.”

Since 1923 Hillel International, one of the largest Jewish student organizations in the world, has dedicated its time, energy and funding to enriching the lives of Jewish students in 550 colleges and universities in 18 countries.

ADL CEO and National Director Jonathan Greenblatt said in a statement to the Journal that Fingerhut’s “creative thinking and steady management have made him an excellent steward of that organization and I am thrilled that he is bringing those gifts to JFNA… As Eric comes on board later this summer, I look forward to deepening our organizational engagement and to increasing my personal collaboration with him. He’s truly an inspired choice to serve as the next CEO of JFNA.”
