Dan Duquette, a founding member of the Israel Baseball League, has returned to Major League Baseball after nine years.

Duquette was hired as the executive vice president of baseball operations for the Baltimore Orioles, the American League club announced Tuesday.

In 2007, Duquette helped create the IBL, a six-team professional baseball league in Israel, and was its director of operations. Due to financial issues, the 2008 season was canceled and the league never re-formed.

Duquette has served as the general manager of the Boston Red Sox and Montreal Expos.
