During the Nine Days leading up to Tisha B’Av, we are called upon to build bridges and mend divisions amongst Jews. This week I had the great privilege of delivering a two hour Shiur and discussion to a wonderful group of Haredi (Ultra-Orthodox) young men in Jerusalem. We dress differently, come from very different backgrounds and hold different opinions about Israel, the army and various other issues. Yet for two hours we felt a deep bond studying Torah together. We laughed together, shared ideas and stories, and I walked out filled with hope for a better tomorrow. One small step at a time.
