Israel and Italy will hold its first joint Cabinet meeting in Israel.
Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi arrived in Israel Monday afternoon for a three-day visit. The prime minister is accompanied by seven cabinet members.
The ministers are expected to discuss Iran’s nuclear program and the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, as well as improving cooperative efforts and bilateral relations, Haaretz reported.
On Monday, Berlusconi will plant a tree on Mt. Herzl and visit Yad Vashem.
In addition to meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Berlusconi is scheduled to meet with Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, opposition leader Tzipi Livni, President Shimon Peres and, in Bethlehem, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. The Italian government ministers will also meet with their counterparts.
Netanyahu met with Berlusconi in Italy last summer. A reciprocal joint Israeli-Italian cabinet meeting will likely be held in Italy next year.
