Islamic Antisemitism Enters American Electoral Politics
The fight between Congressmen Steve Rothman and Bill Pascrell for New Jersey’s redrawn 9th District has taken on an ugly dimension, writes Robert Spencer for PJ Media.
The Washington Free Beacon published an image of an Arabic-language poster claiming that the Rothman/Pascrell race was “the most important election in the history of the [Arab] community” and exhorting the “Arab diaspora community” as “the friend of the Arabs.” In February, Aref Assaf, the president of the American Arab Forum, wrote an op-ed in the New Jersey Star-Ledger titled “Rothman is Israel’s man in District 9.” Assaf asserted that “as total and blind support for Israel becomes the only reason for choosing Rothman, voters who do not view the elections in this prism will need to take notice. Loyalty to a foreign flag is not loyalty to America’s.”
A Settlement Freeze Can Advance Israeli-Palestinian Peace
Writing in the Wall Street Journal, Alan Dershowitz sets out his vision for advancing the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians.
There would be no Israeli building in those areas likely to become part of a Palestinian state. There would be no limit on Israeli building within areas likely to remain part of Israel. And the conditional freeze would continue in disputed areas until it was decided which will remain part of Israel and which will become part of the new Palestinian state. As portions of the disputed areas are allocated to Palestine or Israel, the building rules would reflect that ongoing allocation.
Germany has known about – and facilitated – Israel’s nuclear armament for decades, according to an exposé in Der Spiegel.
In the past, the German government has always stuck to the position that it is unaware of nuclear weapons being deployed on the vessels. Now, however, former high-ranking officials from the German Defense Ministry, including former State Secretary Lothar Rühl and former chief of the planning staff Hans Rühle, have told SPIEGEL that they had always assumed that Israel would deploy nuclear weapons on the submarines. Rühl had even discussed the issue with the military in Tel Aviv.
Putin’s Role in the Houla Massacre
The Russian president’s support for Assad makes him complicit in the Syrian leader’s brutal crackdown on opposition forces, writes Alexander Shumilin in The Moscow Times.
Assad is obviously incapable of restoring order with anything but heavy guns. There is no hope for a peaceful solution as long as he remains in power. But what will be the outcome of Russia’s attempts to whitewash and justify his crimes? How can Russia prove that it is not defending a bloody dictator?
The Washington Post presents a step-by-step illustration of how the Stuxnet virus, believed to have been created by Israel and the US, attacked the computers controlling Iran’s nuclear program.
At the Iranian nuclear processing facility in Natanz, the worm was probably introduced into the computer network through an infected thumb drive, specialists say.
