Organized by me, Boaz Hepner, with my two major partners: The Jewish Federation and Katy Yaroslavsky’s CD5 office.

Here are the stats for my hugely successful 2026 neighborhood cleanup (the Jewish Journal was a proud official partner):

-4,000 to 5,000 pounds of trash removed

-173 people (125 in 2025, 60 in 2024)

-46 partnerships (27 last year)

-12 synagogues (several denominations)

-7 schools

-4 restaurants made food (3 last year)

-4 orgs from the special needs community

-4 offices of politicians

-2 Spanish immersion schools

-2 scout troops

-10/31/27

That’s ⬆️ the date for NEXT year’s cleanup!

Here’s a nice slideshow from the event.

Torah Portion: Chayei Sarah

The Torah offers a comforting view of a life beyond this life. We aren’t told what it will be exactly — yes, it’s abstract and vague — but we are told it’s waiting for us as it was for Abraham.
