Parenthood has a way of exposing the limits of instruction. Children do not necessarily inherit what we tell them to value. They inherit what they see us value.

The problem is not Jewish joy itself. The problem is the growing belief that Jewish joy can replace the difficult work of protecting the conditions that make Jewish flourishing possible in the first place.

This moment calls for moral imagination. For solidarity with the Iranian people demanding dignity. For sustained support of those who seek a freer future.

It was a masterclass in moral confidence. He met a moment of anger with dignity, and a moment of division with cultural self-assurance. He reminded America who Latinos are, without begging for permission or absolution.

It’s time Israeli and Palestinian youth create their own narrative, separate from the old guard who have led us into the abyss.
