Religious zealots attack “immodest” Jerusalem shops

A sign at the ice cream parlor may caution men and women not to lick cones in public, but the warning didn\’t stop Jewish zealots vandalizing the shop in Jerusalem\’s main ultra-Orthodox neighborhood.

Jewish graves vandalized at Mount of Olives

More than a dozen graves at the Mount of Olives cemetery in Jerusalem were vandalized, the latest in a series of attacks on one of Judaism\’s oldest cemeteries.

Atlantic City Jewish cemetery vandalized

Some 15 gravestones were toppled in a Jewish cemetery in Atlantic City, N.J. The attack on the Rodef Sholom Cemetery reportedly took place just before the Memorial Day holiday weekend, according to the Press of Atlantic City. Police believe that more than one vandal was involved because of the heaviness of the gravestones but have no suspects.

Historic Croatian synagogue vandalized

Police are investigating an attack on the entrance to the historic synagogue in the Croatian city of Split, on the Adriatic coast. Unidentified persons covered the walls, doors and the information plaque around the entrance to the synagogue and Jewish community office with spray painted anti-Semitic and xenophobic graffiti including swastikas and slogans, during the night of May 29-30.

One Calabasas High vandal said to be Jewish

One of the three Calabasas High School students who confessed to defacing their school with anti-Semitic and racist graffiti last month is Jewish, a detective from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department involved in the investigation told the Jewish Journal on Thursday. “One of them has a mother who fled Iran because she is Jewish,” Detective J. T. Manwell of the Lost Hills/Malibu station said. “So it’s kind of complicated.”

After anti-semitic vandalism, life goes on at Calabasas High

On Wednesday, April 27, just hours after three Calabasas High School students had been arrested in connection with the anti-Semitic and racist graffiti scrawled on their school’s campus late on Friday night, life at this well-groomed, suburban public school seemed to be back to almost normal.
