House warns P.A. on statehood moves

The U.S. House of Representatives threatened to cut off funding to the Palestinian Authority if it pursues recognition of statehood outside negotiations with Israel.

House approves Rep. Weiner leave of absence

The U.S. House of Representatives approved Rep. Anthony Weiner\’s request for a leave of absence. Weiner (D-N.Y.) requested a two-week leave of absence in order to enter a treatment center to deal with his addiction to having inappropriate online relationships with women. He reportedly entered treatment over the weekend. House memebrs approved the leave request Monday with a unanimous voice vote.

‘House’ cast gets taste of Israeli medicine

On television Lisa Edelstein, a star of the hit Fox show “House,” and her fellow actors work medical miracles every episode. But at an Israeli hospital she stumbled trying her hand at simulated arthroscopic surgery. “I’m so glad this is not a living person,” she said Wednesday, shifting the controls over a robotic dummy, eyes fixed on a computer screen that revealed her would-be patient’s internal organs. “I think I just mangled its liver.”

Dutch teen sentenced to work in Anne Frank House

A Dutch teenager who said in an interview that Jews should be exterminated was ordered to do community service in the Anne Frank house. The 18-year-old identified as Omar E. made his remarks in an interview on the Dutch-language GeenStijl website, according to DutchNews.nl.

Congress passes funding until March

Congress passed a procedural resolution that sustains government funding until March. The \”continuing resolution\” passed Tuesday includes the $2.75 billion in annual defense assistance for Israel. It passed 79-16 in the Senate and 193-165 in the U.S. House of Representatives. It maintains government funding at 2010 levels. Failure to pass it would have meant that the government would run out of money by midnight.

House approves funding bill including Iron Dome missile system

The U.S. House of Representatives included missile defense assistance for Israel in a massive funding bill. Included in the $1.1 trillion bill passed Wednesday was $205 million for Iron Dome, a new Israeli short-range missile defense system aimed at containing rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, as well as $200 million for existing joint U.S.-Israel missile defense programs like the Arrow.\n
