Netanyahu reportedly considering West Bank withdrawals

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is considering withdrawing Israeli troops from the West Bank, the Israeli daily Haaretz reported. Tuesday\’s report comes a day after Netanyahu said during a meeting with the ambassadors of European Union countries that he believes there is little chance of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians resuming anytime soon, and that he is considering what actions to take if negotiations are not resumed.

Goldstone would have to request that U.N. dump report

Richard Goldstone would have to ask the United Nations on behalf of his committee to rescind its report on Israel\’s actions during the 2009 Gaza war to set such an action in motion, a U.N. spokesman said. The U.N. Human Rights Council, which commissioned the report, has not received such a request, The Associated Press reported Monday.

Peres arrives in D.C.

Shimon Peres arrived in Washington for a three-day visit that will include a meeting with President Obama. Peres, who arrived Monday, will discuss \”security cooperation between Israel and the United States, recent developments in the Middle East, and the pursuit of peace between Israel and its neighbors,\” during his meeting with Obama, according to a statement from Peres\’ office.

Palin heading to Israel

Sarah Palin, who is believed to be considering a presidential run in 2012, will visit Israel. The former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential nominee in 2008 will stop in Israel for two days next week on her way back to the United States from a speech she is giving a business group in India.
