Rachel Brosnahan, who plays the titular Jewish comedian, won her first SAG Award, adding to the Emmy, Golden Globe, and Critics Choice trophies she already earned. Tony Shalhoub, who has two SAGs for “Monk,” claimed his third for playing Miriam’s father Abe Weissman, the Maisel mishpocha’s patriarch. The show was named Best Comedy Ensemble, marking the first time since “30 Rock” in 2008 that a single series won in all three TV categories.
Amazon renewed “Mrs. Maisel” for a third season last May, and writing is underway for a production start in March.
Other tribe wins went to Patricia Arquette took home a SAG award for her work in the miniseries “Escape at Dannemora,” and Dan Fogelman whose “This Is Us” cast won for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama.
