Damian Szifron: Argentina’s very Jewish Oscar nominee

If Damian Szifron’s “Wild Tales” (“Relatos Salvajes” in Spanish) wins an Academy Award on Feb. 22 – it was nominated last week for Best Foreign Film — it will be Argentina’s third Oscar and the first for a film directed by an Argentine Jew.

And the 2015 Jewish Academy Award nominees are…

“The Grand Budapest Hotel” topped the field with nine Oscar nominations — in a tie with “Birdman” — as Hollywood unveiled the list of official Academy Award contenders on the morning of Jan. 15.

Woody Allen to make TV series for Amazon

Woody Allen has never written for television. But at the ripe age of 79, the venerable Brooklyn-born filmmaker is apparently set to write and direct his first TV series, an Internet-only show for Amazon.
