五经的希腊化名称 Pentateuch

  在《” title=”犹太人的“五经”” target=”_blank”>犹太人的“五经”》中说托辣五卷合在一起,装订成册,在希伯来语中又叫做Chumash(胡玛什)或Chomesh(侯麦什),因为Chumash或Chomesh来源于希伯来语的数目字“五”。

  在英语中,五经合在一起叫Pentateuch,来源于希腊语的Pentateuchos,其中penta-的意思是“五”(想想五角大楼的英语the Pentagon就明白了),teuchos的本义是“工具、盒子”,指“盛放书卷的盒子”,再后来就指“书卷”了。
