Florida Pastor Says God Is Giving Jews Coronavirus Because They Oppose ‘His Son Jesus’

Rick Wiles, Florida pastor and founder of far-right website TruNews, said on March 26 that God is giving the Jews the coronavirus because they oppose “his son Jesus.”

According to Right Wing Watch, Wiles was discussing how Israel is shutting down synagogues as part of the government’s lockdown efforts to combat COVID-19. He said people should stay away from synagogues.

“God is spreading it in your synagogues,” Wiles said. “You are under judgment because you oppose his son, Jesus Christ. That is why you have a plague in your synagogues. Repent and believe on the name of Jesus Christ, and the plague will stop.”

He also said God is “dealing with false religions.”

Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt tweeted, “As #antisemite Rick Wiles and his “news outlet” TruNews show us once again, hatemongers will try to spread their vitriol even when they’re stuck at home. That’s why we must keep #FightingHateFromHome.”

Former New York Democratic Assemblyman Dov Hikind, who founded the Americans Against Anti-Semitism watchdog tweeted to President Donald Trump, “I know you’re busy with the coronavirus. But please do not let the virulent anti-Semitism virus spread so far that it reaches inside the White House! It’s high time to revoke the press credentials of ‘TruNews’ run by the vile Rick Wiles!”

In January, Wiles claimed TruNews received a White House press credential to the World Economic Forum in Switzerland. The White House declined to provide a comment on the record to the Journal at the time.

A clip of Wiles went viral in November of him saying Trump’s impeachment was due to a “Jew coup.” In February, YouTube removed TruNews from its platform.

YouTube Removes Channel Calling Trump Impeachment a ‘Jew Coup’

Jewish groups praised YouTube for banning TruNews.

“We hope other social media platforms will follow suit,” Anti-Defamation League CEO and National Director Jonathan Greenblatt tweeted.

StandWithUs co-founder and CEO Roz Rothstein similarly tweeted, “Homophobe, anti-Semite, [TruNews Founder Pastor] Rick Wiles — who spews disturbing garbage, is not a happy camper right now.”

A clip of Wiles went viral in November, in which he said: “That’s the way the Jews work. They are deceivers. They plot. They lie. They do whatever they have to do to accomplish their political agenda. This impeach Trump movement is part of a Jew coup, and the American people better wake up to it fast.” Other comments that Wiles has made in the past include calling Jews part of the “synagogue of Satan” and claiming that Israel assassinated President John F. Kennedy.

Wiles has claimed that TruNews has received press credentials from the White House, including to January’s World Economic Forum in Switzerland. The White House declined to provide an on-the-record comment to the Journal at the time.

News Outlet Calling Trump Impeachment a ‘Jew Coup’ Given White House Press Credentials at Swiss Forum

The TruNews YouTube channel, whose founder said on the air that the impeachment of President Donald Trump is part of a “Jew coup,” was reportedly given White House press credentials on Jan. 21.

Right Wing Watch caught a clip of TruNews broadcasting from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

“We just want to thank President Trump and the White House for extending the invitation to be here,” TruNews founder and Florida Pastor Rick Wiles said. “Your TruNews team was sitting in the audience, very close to the stage. We got to see the president up close, hear the entire speech, and we’re again just honored that we are here. The White House has treated all of the media with a lot of respect and professionalism and courtesy.”

CNN’s Jake Tapper tweeted that he was able to confirm that TruNews received a White House press credential.

Jewish groups condemned the reported credentialing of TruNews.

“Unacceptable is an understatement,” Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt tweeted.

The American Jewish Committee similarly tweeted, “There are many things TruNews should receive — top amongst them being derision and scorn. One thing that it should not receive is credentials from the White House. This needs to be rectified immediately.”

Former New York Democratic Assemblyman Dov Hikind, who is also the founder of the Americans Against Antisemitism watchdog, tweeted, “This is unacceptable. We cannot tolerate credentialing fake journalists who shamelessly push virulent anti-Semitic agendas. I’m sure President @realDonaldTrump will do the right thing when this comes to his attention.”

In a Nov. 21 video, Wiles called Jews “deceivers. They plot. They lie.” He went onto say, “This impeach Trump movement is part of a Jew coup, and the American people better wake up to it fast.”

Florida Pastor Calls Trump Impeachment a ‘Jew Coup’

Florida Pastor and founder of the TruNews YouTube channel Rick Wiles called efforts to impeach President Donald Trump part of a “Jew coup.”

In a Nov. 21 video, Wiles said, “That’s the way the Jews work. They are deceivers. They plot. They lie. They do whatever they’ve have to do to accomplish their political agenda. This impeach Trump movement is part of a Jew coup, and the American people better wake up to it fast.”

Wiles went on to say that the country will devolve into a civil war if Trump is impeached, which could happen at around the time of Christmas.

“We have until Christmas to take a stand because of this Jew coup in the United States,” Wiles said. “We have weeks to stop it. That’s why I’m speaking out. That’s why I’m putting everything on the line saying this is a coup led by Jews to overthrow the constitutionally elected president of the United States.”

He proceeded to claim that there will be “a purge. That’s the next thing that happens when Jews take over a country – they kill millions of Christians.”

Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt tweeted on Nov. 27, “#AntiSemitic platform TruNews is now perpetuating an #antiSemitic conspiracy claiming Jews are “orchestrating” impeachment. There should be no place for this kind of hate on any platform. @YouTube should take down this content and their channel ASAP.”

StandWithUs CEO and Co-Founder Roz Rothstein similarly tweeted, “This creepy man is a danger to civil society. His name is Rick Wiles, and he should not be allowed to broadcast hate like this. Wow. Get him OFF every possible platform!”

TruNews tweeted on Nov. 26 that their impeachment video resulted in a YouTube ban.

According to YouTube, the video was in fact removed on Nov. 26. YouTube has a “three-strike policy” in which channels are permanently removed from the site when they receive three strikes in three months.

The Times of Israel (TOI) reports, “TruNews has more than 185,000 subscribers on YouTube and its videos have garnered 17 million views on the site.”

TOI also notes that TruNews has had White House press credentials in the past; Trump took a question from TruNews during a 2018 press conference and TruNews interviewed Donald Trump Jr. in March during a rally. A Trump Jr. spokesperson told The Washington Post at the time that the interview wasn’t planned.

Additionally, Wiles claimed in September that TruNews gets invited to a lot of White House events, Mediaite reports.

“We don’t go to all of them because we just don’t have the funding and the manpower to go to every single event that the White House invites us,” Wiles said. “We are very appreciative that the White House invites us to these things.”

The ADL’s background on Wiles and TruNews highlights several prior statements from Wiles, including:

  • Saying Jews are part of the “synagogue of Satan.”
  • Alleging that “Israel took out John Kennedy.”
  • Accusing Israelis and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner of attempting to “completely exterminate the Palestinian people.”
  • Saying that Zionists are attempting to take “over the world in the Last Days and [persecute] the body of Christ and makes war against the saints…. And it’s not Muslims that are going to kill us. It’s the Jews.”
  • Calling Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, “Kabbalah-practicing evil woman whispering evil things in the ear of her father.”

The White House did not respond to the Journal’s request for comment.
