On Super Sunday, the alefs and bets in Green Bay and Pittsburgh will be thinking about X’s and O’s. They\’ll even be up for a little friendly wager. On the morning of Feb. 6, many hours before the NFC champion Green Bay Packers battle the AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV, Rabbi Shaina Bacharach of the Conservative Congregation Cnesses Israel in Green Bay, says her religious school will square off against the school at the Or L’Simcha, Tree of Life Congregation in Pittsburgh.

Jewish runners decry post-Yom Kippur marathon

Jewish marathon runners are racing to complain about the timing of the Chicago Marathon, which is set for the day after Yom Kippur. The runners have called and sent e-mails to the Bank of America Chicago, the marathon\’s sponsor, saying that they will not be able to take in enough carbohydrate-laden food following the fast in time to prepare for the 26.2-mile run on Oct. 9, the Chicago Tribune reported Tuesday.

Maccabiah Results: Team USA Wins 82 Medals in the First Full Week of Competition

Tel Aviv, Israel, July, 21 – Team USA has won 25 Gold, 26 Silver and 31 Bronze Medals in the first full week of competition at the 18th Maccabiah Games. Competition began on Sunday, July 12 and in addition to the medal count, both Jason Lezak and Andrea Murez broke Maccabiah Records in their first day of competition on July 19.

The Pacific Palisades resident initially took on the responsibly to fulfill an outreach requirement for her bat mitzvah last spring. The experience has satisfied more than a ceremonial obligation.

\”I feel good because I\’m helping other people,\” Gaskin said.
