About a year ago, I was vocal in my disappointment with Susan G. Komen for the Cure for the organization’s response after Egypt denied Israeli research scientists entrance to the Komen conference held in their country. However, this unfortunate experience produced one positive result: it introduced me to Sharsheret, a national Jewish breast cancer organization that offers a community of support to women, of all Jewish backgrounds, diagnosed with breast cancer or at increased genetic risk.
