Romney to address AIPAC
Mitt Romney will address the annual AIPAC policy conference. The American Israel Public Affairs Committee announced Tuesday via Twitter that Romney, the former Massachusetts governor and a candidate for the Republican presidential nod, will address its policy conference on March 6, the day voters go to the polls in 10 states in the Super Tuesday primaries that in the past have determined a front-runner in the contest.
In Ohio, GOP pins Senate hopes on young Jewish Iraq vet
As the 2012 campaign heats up in Ohio, Republicans are pinning their hopes on a young Jewish military veteran to unseat Democratic incumbent Sen. Sherrod Brown. Josh Mandel, a 34-year-old U.S. Marine Corps veteran and the current state treasurer, has faced a number of challenges but he is doing well in the polls. A recent Rasmussen Reports poll showed Mandel only four points behind Brown — a favorite of organized labor and liberals — in a hypothetical match-up.
Dempsey says he did not advise against Israel strike on Iran
Gen. Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, told a Senate committee that he did not advise Israel against striking Iran\’s nuclear facilities. Dempsey appeared Tuesday before the Senate Budget Committee, where he said he had spoken to Israeli officials about the timing of such a strike.
