David Wolpe is the Max Webb Senior Rabbi at Sinai Temple. His most recent book is “David: The Divided Heart” (Yale University Press).
Rosh Hashanah is a time when we are reminded that our actions are observed, that God watches. Everyone gives account, every deed is known.

Einstein often is credited with saying that there are two ways to live your life — as though everything is a miracle or as though nothing is a miracle.
When our ancestors received the Torah, they stood at a mountain. When we celebrate receiving the Torah on Shavuot, we will stand in the pews.
