Lev Eisha is a modern-day Red Tent, except instead of gathering in a portable desert shelter, this women’s minyan congregates just miles from the beach in a West Los Angeles synagogue on the vast, summer-camp-like premises of Vista Del Mar.

Lauren Levine is settling in with a group of friends apartment to watch “American Idol,” when a look of panic comes over her face. She rummages around, finds her keys and darts out.“I left the hair thing on,” she says when she returns, breathless, from her own apartment downstairs. “I was straightening Jasmine’s hair before we came up here, and I forgot to turn it off. Wow. That was close.” Levine has wide blue eyes accentuated with sparkly eye shadow, and her voice is spiced with a sense of interested wonder.

$5 million gift renames Vista Del Mar campus

Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services got a new name on Jan. 12, to include the designation the Joyce and Stanley Black Family Campus, in light of a $5 million gift the Blacks recently pledged to the agency.

Student raises $3,500 for Vista Del Mar

Jack Ginsberg, a student at Paul Revere Charter Middle School and Magnet Center, raised $3,500 collecting coins in jars to help buy sporting equipment at Vista Del Mar, a social service agency that offers community programs for children and families, including foster care and psychiatric residential treatment.
