Israel to extend Daylight Savings Time

Israel will extend Daylight Savings Time to the beginning of October instead of ending on the Sunday before Yom Kippur. Interior Minister Eli Yishai announced the decision Monday following the recommendation of an advisory committee.

Shalit’s parents ask French court to find kidnappers

The parents of captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit have filed a lawsuit asking a French court to determine who is holding their son and to issue an international arrest order. Shalit holds French citizenship, and French law allows for the prosecution of anyone who has committed a serious crime against a French citizen, no matter where they are from.

Company withdraws ‘Hipster Hitler’ T-shirt line

An Australia-based online vendor has withdrawn T-shirts that satirized Hitler and the Holocaust following complaints by the Jewish community. Red Bubble, a Melbourne-based company that markets the works of more than 150,000 artists worldwide, this week stopped selling the “Hipster Hitler” line of T-shirts that parody the Holocaust with slogans such as “Eastside Westside Genocide,” “Back to the Fuhrer” and “Three Reichs And You’re Out.”

30,000 march in N.Y.’s Celebrate Israel Parade

An estimated 30,000 people marched up New York\’s Fifth Avenue in the annual Celebrate Israel Parade amid a sea of blue-and-white flags. Hundreds of thousands lined the streets to view the parade.
