Tu B Shvat Seder and Song

Tu B ‘ Shvat Seder and Song to be held at Hollywood Temple Beth El.

Join us for a  Tu B’Shvat Celebration of Seder and song as Rabbi Norbert Weinberg lifts us up through the four levels of existence via four layers of fruits and nuts. The Seder begins at 12 noon, following Shabbat Morning Services at 9:45 a.m.
Tu B Shvat, the 15 of Shvat, is marked as the New Year of the Trees and celebrates the rebirth of floral life after the winter doldrums.  When the Ottoman Sultan invited the Jews exiled from Spain to return to the land of Israel, the mystics of Safed saw this as sign of the liberation of the Jewish people from the winter of exile and the dawn of the rebirth of the Land of Israel, and marked it by a Seder on Tu B’Shvat, modeled after the Peach Seder.
Price of admission: Bring one generous bag of dried fruits or nuts to share, or bottles of white and red grape juice. (Any unopened bags and bottles will be given to the SOVA food pantry to share with those who lack basic necessities).
