Grammy-nominated artists attracted 800 music lovers to Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services’ first annual jazz festival. The Oct. 18 fundraiser brought in $50,000 to support Vista Del Mar’s many programs for children with mental health, behavioral, emotional or social problems. The event, held at Vista’s West L.A. campus, featured performances by Grammy-nominated percussionist and singer Sheila E., who performed with her father, jazz musician Pete Escovedo, along with recording artist Patrice Rushen and saxophonist Dave Koz, among others. Nia Vardalos, the star and scribe of “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” also attended the event, which was co-chaired by E., Lynn Mabry and prominent Jewish philanthropists Janis Black Warner and Douglas Warner.
