The great Independence Day debate: Letter 6

[additional-authors]
June 8, 2012

This the sixth letter in a debate on changing the date of Independence Day in Israel. Readers who are not yet familiar with the debate can read more about it here.

The letter comes from Yossi Tsuria, an expert in software security, advisory board ‎member at Citala Ltd and former CTO at NDS Group Ltd.  ‎

And if the suggestion is accepted – I propose that we consider an” Independence Day ‎triangle” [the writer’s proposal is based on the “Purim Meshulash” (Purim triangle) – the ‎way the festival is celebrated when it happens to fall on Shabbat – S.R.] that runs from ‎Thursday to Saturday night, with special ceremonies for the Friday (the date on which ‎statehood was declared) and the Shabbat-Independence Day (a second Torah reading? ‎Haftarah?)  etc.

As an example, for fans of triumvirates:‎

Thursday – the land of Israel

Friday – the State of Israel and the ingathering of the exiles

Saturday – the salvation of Israel

To illustrate: “He doth revive us after two days, In the third day He doth raise us up, And ‎we live before Him” [Hosea 6:2] ‎

And thus our loss will become our gain.‎
