“THE ANGRIEST MAN IN BROOKLYN”

In limited release this week is “The Angriest Man in Brooklyn,” the latest from director Phil Alden Robinson (“Field of Dreams”). Based on the 1997 award-winning “The 92 Minutes of Mr. Baum,” an Israeli film from the late actor/writer/director Assi Dayan, the comedy follows Henry Altman (Robin Williams) through the streets of Brooklyn in his attempt to reconcile with his family after he’s mistakenly told by his doctor that he only has 90 minutes to live. The cast features the solid Melissa Leo as Henry’s wife, shedding the boxed-bleach look from her Oscar-winning role in “The Fighter”; our lovely Jewess Mila Kunis; the vocal prowess of James Earl Jones; and the impossibly talented Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”), as Henry’s brother. SORO FESTIVAL

There’s no such thing as a bad excuse to shmooze with your fellow Pico-Robertsonites, so make it a family affair and head over to the South Robertson Community Festival. The 17th annual event will have all the festival bells and whistles, including live music and dance performances, rock-climbing, arts and crafts for the little ones and more than 60 vendor booths. Of course, no street festival is complete without a sizable food-truck buffet, so come hungry — there will be plenty of kosher and non-kosher options. GEAR UP FOR CAMP DAY

In light of the upcoming summer camp season, The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles is holding its Gear Up for Camp Day. Camp Max Straus, the resident camp of Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles, has been offering a camping experience to kids ages 7-13, regardless of race or financial situation, since 1938. The annual volunteer event helps the campers prepare for Max Straus by providing 1,000 underserved campers with their necessary gear, from tents to hiking boots to toothbrushes and more. Maintaining relationships is tough. Maintaining long-distance relationships is even tougher. But maintaining a long-distance relationship while in the throes of war is nothing short of inspirational. Presented by the Hollywood Fringe Festival, “Harold and Stella: Love Letters” is a two-character play telling the story of Stella Adler (Arianna Ratner) and Harold Clurman (Clay Wilcox, June 6 and 13; Bill Ratner, June 17-28), both giants of the theater world, who in 1942 began an impassioned relationship while living on opposite sides of the country. With only their letters to keep the flame alive, these two artists created a universe of intimate and dynamic expression while a world of uncertainty swirled around them. Sheana Ochoa, author of the new biography “Stella! Mother of Modern Acting” and producer of “Harold and Stella: Love Letters,” will be in attendance to sign copies of the biography. Fri. 8 p.m. $10.
