Michael Chabon, Ayelet Waldman to Produce Shows for CBS

Married best-selling authors Michael Chabon and Ayelet Waldman have signed a production deal with CBS that includes an adaptation of Chabon’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay” for Showtime. The pair will write, executive produce and serve as showrunners for the series, which follows the lives of two Jewish cousins in the World War II era.

Waldman’s book “A Really Good Day,” based on her experiences with LSD micro-dosing, is also being adapted for Showtime, with Anna Chlumsky (“Veep”) in the lead.  Chabon is currently executive producing “Star Trek: Picard,” which premieres on the CBS All Access streaming service Jan. 23. 

Chabon and Waldman are curating an anthology of essays about civil rights and social justice called “Fight of the Century” (Simon & Schuster) a collaboration between the couple and the American Civil Liberties Union that highlights landmark ACLU cases.  Jennifer Egan, Neil Gaiman, Marlon James, Viet Thanh Nguyen, Salman Rushdie, Jesmyn Ward are among the authors represented

“The team at CBS Studios is the best we’ve ever worked with,” said Waldman and Chabon in a statement. “We’re looking forward with so much excitement to this next phase of our collaboration.”
